£500
Medieval Silver Gilt Iconographic Ring. Circa, 14th-15th century AD. Silver, 5.66 grams. UK ring size, R; US size 9. A D-sectioned band with panelled shoulders and a wide pitched bezel that is detailed with plain and patterned chevrons that fall either side of the central ridge, the shoulder panels are decorated with a series of offset squares, almost wall-like in appearance. This type of ring is related to contemporary iconographic rings (such as Oman, 1974, plate 68f dated to the late 15th century) but lack the religious imagery, instead having simple geometric or floral decoration. Property of an Essex jewellery collector.
